Work will begin soon on the Abuja-Itakpe Railway Line, says federal Transportation Minister Muzau Sambo.
The railway line from the Federal Capital Territory to Itakpe was a central route and also one of the most important railway lines in the country, he said on Nov. 7 during the second edition of Pres. Muhammadu Buhari Administration scoreside series event.
Sambo said, additionally, the railway modernisation program of the administration plans to link more state capitals in Nigeria with the rail network to provide seamless transportation for citizens.
Meanwhile, referring to the Calabar Seaport Dredging, he said the long years of non-activities at the port have been attributed to its shallow water which prevents bigger vessels from berthing. The abandoned $56 million dredging contract has been stalled because of court disputes.
Muazu gave assurance that his administration is working hard to resolve the disputes, either to return the same contractor to continue dredging, or appoint another company, Vanguardngr reported.
