Minister of Works David Umahi recently revealed that 52 percent of the road construction projects currently ongoing under President Tinubu are on the northern side of the country, thus emphasizing the government’s focus on promoting regional infrastructure development.

Umahi stated this while inspecting a section of the 258-km stretch of the 1,068 km Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway in Gulumbe, Kebbi State-Southern Sector, Section 2, Phase 2A. He that lauded the President, that with the approval of funds and leadership for such an ambitious project, this concentration of works in the northern part is part of a more comprehensive agenda for ensuring equitable infrastructure growth across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.

He mentioned further that the four legacies of road projects initiated by Tinubu, including the Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway reflect the commitments of the President to all regions. Umahi further indicated that the Coastal Highway, first conceived by Tinubu as Governor of Lagos nearly 25 years ago, is working in concept if not in speed because of the innovative financing models. The inspection, which was attended by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris and other officials of the state, underscored the commitment of the administration to its Renewed Hope Agenda. In that regard, Idris lauded Tinubu for many projects in Kebbi, while Minister of State Bello Goronyo reassured that the completion of the Super Highway is a priority.
